On 28 July, VIC naturalist Diane Minutilli led a nature walk on the Boreal Life Trail, examining the plant life on an Adirondack bog, which is one of several different types of Adirondack wetlands. We discussed the definition of a bog and how it differs from a fen, and examined the following plants, which can be viewed from the boardwalk through Barnum Bog:
Cotton Grass | Marsh Cinquefoil |
Pitcher Plant | Pickerelweed |
Grass Pink | Yellow Pond Lily |
Roundleaf Sundew | Whorled Wood Aster |
Bladderwort | Black Spruce |
Tamarack | Alder |
