Birding the Adirondacks:
Teddy Roosevelt Bird Walk

Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a bird walk on the Boreal Life Trail and the Heron Marsh Trail on 22 September 2012. The walk was part of the "TR" Birding Series. The walk began at 8:30 AM, when we met in the VIC building at the Paul Smith's College VIC. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of some of the birds migrating south through the area, but the morning was quite windy and the birds were very quiet. As a result, we saw or heard a total of only 14 birds. Highlights of the walk included some excellent views of a pair of American Kestrels hunting on Barnum Bog and a Belted Kingfisher flying over Barnum Brook. We also had some nice views of a Great Blue Heron on Heron Marsh.
In the parking lot and near the VIC building, we saw or heard the following birds:

On the Heron Marsh Trail, we saw or heard the following birds:
