Birding the Adirondacks:
Teddy Roosevelt Bird Walk

On 17 May 2014, Adirondack Birding Center Director Brian McAllister led a bird walk on the Loggers Loop Trail, Boreal Life Trail, and the Barnum Brook Trail. The walk was part of the "TR" Birding Series. The walk began at 9:00 AM, when we met in the VIC building at the Paul Smith's College VIC. It was a cool, partly sunny day. We saw or heard a total of 27 bird species. Highlights of the walk included a view of four Great Blue Herons flying over Heron Marsh and some excellent views of many other birds, including a Hermit Thrush, Nashville Warbler, Lincoln's Sparrow, and Yellow-rumped Warbler from the Boreal Life Trail. We also had good views of a male Blackburnian Warbler in breeding plumage, a Magnolia Warbler, and a Black-throated Green Warbler on the Loggers Loop Trail.
